Hear
a message (MP3) from Senior Pastor
Michael Walker - a Jew who came to know
the Messiah - sharing about the history
of Church in the City at our 15 year
anniversary.
The Mission of Church in the City is to
grow the saved,
save the lost,
and care for the downtrodden.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon
me;he has appointed me to preach good news to the poor; he has sent
me to heal the brokenhearted and to announce that captives shall be released
and the blind shall see, that the downtrodden shall be freed from their
oppressors, and that God is ready to give blessings to all who come to
him.” Luke 4:18
What began in 1987
with a handful of committed people as a weekly outreach to a homeless
shelter has become a full-time presence in the heart of Denver known as
Church In The City.
The vision the Lord has
given to us for His church is a local church that goes beyond the 4
walls into the community and around the world to fulfill the Great
Commission (Matt. 28:19). We believe in a church body that embraces all
people and is a reflection of unity within diversity that God desires
in His church. In this environment, people from all cultures and races
come together to worship and deepen their relationship with Jesus
Christ.
Our total commitment to the things of the Lord, both
spiritually and practically, shape the mission of our ministry: to grow
the saved, save the lost, and care for the downtrodden. We are
dedicated to: nurturing a personal passion for God by teaching and
equipping our body of believers, encouraging a compassion for people
through fellowship and relationship reconciliation, and inspiring a
heart to serve through outreach and ministry opportunities in our
church and community and throughout the world.
We exist to serve Christ by sharing the love of God with all people.
We continually pursue the will of our Father to make Church In The City
a place where every person can come and have God meet them right where
they are. Our hope is that every person will be challenged to grow in
the faith and persue a deeper relationship with the Lord. God has
called CITC to be a safe place for all: the young, the old, and for
those who are broken or in need—so that all will have the
opportunity to know the love of Jesus. Our greatest desire is that the
heartbeat of God will continue to beat in our midst, that we will grow
in holiness, and that everything we do will be to the glory of the Lord.

and Brenda Walker
